I like the energy of the photo, particularly of the background. It actually reminds me of the Van Gogh it's supposed to be inspired by.

Energy through vibrant, contrasting colors; an aureole-like effect from placement of people around a contemporary food; this is a true photographic equivalent to what Grapes, Lemons, Pears, and Apples would be translated to today. Fits contest rules perfectly! It's also a great commentary on the direction our society has taken, gastronomically if not otherwise.
