I love the support shown for the photographer...there's certainly a lot of people pulling for this picture. That's okay, but personally, I don't see why this picture technically should place in front of the other pictures. I think the other pictures in places 2,3 and 4 are much better.

i'll tell you why it should win... between the composition and the genuine expression of the subject, it creates a visceral reaction in the viewer like most great works of art. the other photos are sweet, quaint, edgeless and typical.

It’s all about interpretation. The spirit of the painting lives in my photo! An “equivalent” to Caillebotte’s streetscape is not necessarily to replicate the scene with a photographic image, but rather capture the ambiance of the painting. From my perspective, this photo does that. I’m extremely thankful for the support of all who voted for my photograph!

posted: 09/27/2008 by kelly
Not quite sure how this photo got here...I think pictures of people holding umbrellas only works if its the 19th century.

This might actually be a decent photo if it was minus the guy holding the umbrella....

Looks like a guy digging in his pocket to put away his camera....I do not see a good picture. There is no focus and it is a little over exposed. I would have deleted it had I been scrolling through my digital camera. Not first place material.
